VERONA - Dr. Scott W. Ringgenberg, age 53, of Verona, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, from a long battle with colon cancer.

Scott grew up on a family farm in the Mount Horeb area. Scott enjoyed working on the farm, whether doing field work or bailing hay with his family. He enjoyed the hot summer heat and the hard lessons learned that helped create his strong work ethic.

Scott received his B.S. and M.S. from UW-La Crosse in Physical Education and Health. He earned his Doctorate in Administration and Educational Leadership from Edgewood College.

Scott was a professor at UW-Platteville in the Health and Human Performance Department. He also served as Department chair, Ropes Course Director, teaching and serving on various committees.

Scott enjoyed watching and participating in his sons’ sports and activities as well as cheering on his nieces and nephews in their sports and activities. Scott enjoyed rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, golfing, skiing, boating with his family, cheering on the Packers and Badgers as well as volunteering in the community, serving on the Frolic committee and Grid Iron Club. Scott was also a member of the Springdale Lutheran Church.

Scott is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Renee; sons, Tyler Anderson (Leah), Chase Ringgenberg and Austin Ringgenberg; parents, Roger and Marion; and siblings, Pamela (Cory) Kelly and their two sons, Brock and Luke; Todd Ringgenberg; and Joel (Heather) Ringgenberg and their two daughters, Emma and Ashlynn.

Scott has always been one of my favorite colleagues at UW-Platteville. I have greatly enjoyed working with him through being a department chair and through academic appeals. He is a passionate educator and always had students' best interest at heart. I also never heard Scott complain, even at the end of his journey with cancer. He was still volunteering to serve on the academic appeals committee this spring. He will definitely be missed. He was one of the best professors I have worked with at UWP.

I went to college at UW-Platteville and later worked there as an advisor. I took Scott's seasonal activities class in college and I loved him! Super positive, yet chill. Super funny and fun to be around. Honestly made me love gym class, which I NEVER had before. I have so many healthy positive activities in my life now ❤️ truly a loss; I'm so sorry. Courage to his family and close friends. Know that he was loved by many!!

I'm on the Frolic committee with Scott for many years now. In our meetings we would share have a few laughs, and a few beers planning for the next Summer Frolic. We will all miss him dearly, for he was always upbeat and fun to be around.
