Obituary

MADISON - Timothy G. Minter, age 60, died on Sunday, July 10, 2022, in the place he loved best, his cabin in the north woods.

Tim’s real passion was being out in nature, hunting, fishing, walking or just sitting enjoying the wonders.

When you hear the leaves rustling and feel the seasons on your face, know that’s Tim, and he is finally free of all his pain. He is now happy and content truly being part of nature.

Tim worked construction and had exceptional pride in all projects he laid his hands on. He received many letters of praise from customers and municipalities.

Tim is survived by his wife, Amy Minter; children, Adam Minter and Sondra Minter (Luke Rislove); mother, Bonnie Minter; siblings, Thomas Minter Jr., Todd (Terri) Minter, Theresa (John) Danne and Tammy (Al) Becker; brothers-in-law, Ted Woodstock, Jay Woodstock, Lee (Laurie) Woodstock, Brian Woodstock and Ben (Kim) Woodstock; and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Minter Sr.

A Memorial Gathering will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday July 27, 2022.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to gatheringwaters.org, cleanwisconsin.org or wisconservation.org. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Tim helped us all find fun as kids. One time that stands out was Tim taking the screens off his bedroom windows. Then he helped us all use various things to make parachutes we attached to Barbie and GI Joe. Then we sent them flying out the window. We’d sneak outside to find them to try again and again. I can’t remember if Mom ever said anything or let on that she knew what we were doing. But she was a mother of five. She had to know. But she also knew we were just fine with Tim.

On the outside, Tim was a bit of a rough and gruff kind of guy. A hard working, beer drinking, mountain man. But, Tim was also a very smart, very caring, fun loving, deep thinking, and compassionate person. The way he would kneel at his grandmother's chair holding her hand to say hello and goodbye could bring a tear to your eye. When we were all gathered to review our Dad's obituary he was the last to read it before publishing and after reading it he said " you all are college graduates and you didn't even realize the wrong their is there." Very smart, and VERY observant. Made me laugh! He loved having fun with the little kids. And, they always enjoyed his Donald Duck impressions. He loved to make them smile. One of my favorite fun memories was when Tim, Amy, Al and I went to the dog track and spent the night in the Dells. Tim wanted to go swimming but the pool was closed. That didn't stop him. He went out the window of their room that overlooked the pool, made his way down the wall and got that swim in. Very rarely did something stop him from doing what he wanted to do. Some people might call that being stubborn! I am not sure why Tim got way more than his fair share of pain in life. I will think of him when I feel the wind. ❤️
