We were Bill's neighbors and will miss his wave, his "Hi, neighbor" and his teasing that I don't have to walk to the Post Office, (which I do for exercise), because "that is what that little red flag is for". I am sure you are laughing in heaven, Bill. Rex and JoAnn Dachenbach

My deepest sympathies to the family of Bill Newton. ''Newt'' was a wonderful guy. I had lots of laughs with him. He was a great neighbor back in the day. I had tremendous respect for him. He really helped me out one time back in my younger days when I made a really foolish mistake. He really went to bat for me. I never ever forgot that. He would remind me of it from time to time. LOL. I'm glad I knew him. Another really fine Oregon person gone way to soon. Sincerely, Jim Snow.

Bill worked with my husband at the Town of Madison Police Department. I did not know him well, but my husband spoke fondly and highly of him. To clear my mind and relieve stress, I like to jog. Many mornings, when jogging on Oak Street in Oregon, I would be greeted by Bill in his pick up truck. He always had a big smile and a big wave. That warm gesture made my day brighter and always brought me peace. More Bills are needed in this world!!!!
