Obituary

MADISON - Andrea Valiere “Dre, Drea” Knop passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at UW Hospital. She was born in Madison, Wis., on Oct. 2, 1970, the daughter of Constance (Petersen) Knop and Allen Knop.   She always considered herself an East Side girl and was proud of having attended Elvehjem Elementary, Sennett Middle and LaFollette High School where she made life-long friends whom she cherished.

After completing a degree at Madison College, she held a variety of jobs, most recently at Exact Sciences.  No matter where she worked, she made friends--lots of them. And even after leaving a job, she made it a point to stay in touch. Drea was appreciated for her wicked sense of humor, her total honesty and her enjoyment of social get togethers.  She was fiercely loyal and devoted to her family and friends.  We will desperately miss our interactions with Andrea but she will live on in our memory and in our hearts.


Andrea is survived by her parents, Allen (Linda Sweeney) and Constance Knop; brother, David (Teresa) Knop; niece, Morgan (Brandon) Erickson; nephews, Michael (Lauren) Knop and Ryan Bentz; great-nieces, Charlotte Knop and Maren Knop; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Valiere and Bill Petersen; her paternal grandparents, Helen and Albert Knop; and her beloved sister, Laura Elizabeth Knop.


A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared on Facebook.

I worked several years with Andrea and become a fast friend of hers. Yes, she did keep in contact with me and for that, I appreciated her friendship. Rest now my friend.. We'll see you again Love, Jamie

To Andrea's family, I worked with her at DXC Techonolgy. Andrea had a big heart. She would keep me company after work while waired for my husband to come and pick me up. Some times it would be up to an hour and I would say, don't you have things to do and she would say when I am with my friend there is no other place I want to be. I did keep in touch with her. Thanks for sharing you time with me Andrea. Fly high with eagles. RIP my friend
