MADISON - James Linsley, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Feb. 8, 1931, in Urbana, Ill., the son of Clyde M. Linsley and Mary Lucille Grady.
James grew up in Urbana, and after graduating from high school he attended the University of Illinois. After graduation he served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and also took part in operation Castle Bravo. After completing his military service, he received his master’s degree at the University of Minnesota. James met Janice Williams while attending the University of Minnesota, and they were married in February of 1963.
Prior to retirement, James worked in the field of animal research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he co-authored and published several papers in that field. He finished his career at the University of Chicago.
James is survived by his wife, Janice; sons, Richard (Diana McNew-Linsley) Linsley, Thomas Linsley, Ted Linsley and Michael Linsley; and grandchild, Arden Linsley. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandchild, Eric McNew.
