I met Steve in Eau Claire, WI in 1980 when he worked for Chippewa County Forestry and we soon became best friends. When he started Woods Unlimited Forestry Services in 1983, I was thrilled to be able to work alongside him on many conservation projects that involved the planting of trees on private lands, marking timber for stand improvement, and the development of land management plans. Steve's conservation ethic was second to none as he always strived to improve the sustainability of the properties that he worked on. His achievements in this area were remarkable. I will sincerely miss our weekly conversations as well as Steve's enthusiasm and musical creativity. Rest In Peace buddy, we weren't done with you yet!
