Stephanie Ann Thompson

MARSHALL - Stephanie A. Thompson, age 54, of Marshall, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022. She was born on April 25, 1968, in Ripon, Wis., the daughter of Eugene Wick and Marybeth (Weber) Neinast.

Stephanie graduated from Royall High School in Elroy in 1986. She received her bachelor’s degree in math education from UW-Eau Claire, and a master’s degree in Education in 2019 from UW-Stout.  She also earned a graduate math certificate from Indiana Wesleyan University. She opted to stay home when her children were young and dedicated several years to raising her daughters and working in her local church. She taught math at Poynette High School her last six years and it was truly her passion; she was a naturally gifted teacher. She had a captivating way of engaging students, recognizing when their attention was waning, and drawing them back in with a story. Mrs. T, as she was known by her students, had a tremendous heart and genuinely loved her students, becoming a mentor to many of them.

Stephanie married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Benjamin Thompson, on June 22, 1991, in Wisconsin Dells. Together they raised three daughters. In her free time, she enjoyed kayaking, tandem biking, hiking and camping. She loved spending time with family and being outdoors. She traveled all around the U.S., including Alaska, and even got abroad to Italy. Stephanie was a longtime member of Calvary Gospel Church and volunteered her time organizing renown Veterans Day services, school supply drives and Touched Twice, a free medical and dental clinic. With her husband, she was involved with leadership and training at the church, impacting the lives of many people. She was known for her quick wit and wise anecdotes.

Stephanie is survived by her husband, Benjamin; daughters, Rebekah (Ryan Demski) Thompson, Elisha (Kyle) McConville and Sarah (Justin) Repka; parents, Eugene (Susan) Wick and Marybeth (Dale) Neinast; four brothers, Scott (Megan) Wick, Curt (Katie) Wick, Scott Neinast and Allan Neinast; two sisters, Andrea (Brian) Clifford and Michelle Neinast; father and mother-in-law, Brian and Elaine Thompson; brother-in-law, Brett (Laurel) Thompson; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many close friends.

A funeral service will be held at CALVARY GOSPEL CHURCH, 5301 Commercial Ave., Madison, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, with Pastor Roy Grant presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. A private family burial will take place at Medina Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
