Obituary
MADISON - Susan J. Schoch, age 72, of Madison, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Jan. 8, 1950, in Menominee, Mich., the daughter of Max and Violet (Johnson) Hanisch.
Susan graduated from Marinette High School and attended UW-Madison, later serving as a nurse for the American Red Cross. She was united in marriage to Steven Schoch on Aug. 15, 1981.
Susan was an active member of Midvale Community Lutheran Church. She enjoyed music, family gatherings, and traveling with her husband, Steve, and friends. She and Steve especially loved going on cruises together. Susan was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and enjoyed watching the Brewers and the Bucks as well as going to the Badgers college football bowl games in Florida and Las Vegas.
Susan is survived by her husband, Steven; daughter, Heather (Jake) Sobbe; three granddaughters, Lily Gilbertson, Marie Gilbertson and Nicki Schoch; brother, Michael (Hope) Hanish; sister, Maxine Szymik; and two brothers-in-law, James Schoch and Ken (Diane) Schoch. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at MIDVALE COMMUNITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4329 Tokay Blvd., Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, with the Rev. Blake Rohrer presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
