Obituary

Oregon - Duane Goodwin Sperstad, age 90, of Oregon, passed away peacefully with his daughter and son-in-law by his side on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at his home. He was born on May 21, 1935, in Stoughton, Wis., the son of Andrew and Anna Sperstad.


Duane grew up on a farm, and enjoyed tractors, tinkering and being outdoors. He graduated from Stoughton Senior High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Prior to retirement, he worked as an electrician for Uniroyal (US Rubber Company) for over 30 years.


Duane is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Mike) Shields; brother, Marvin (Marilyn) Sperstad; granddaughters, Elizabeth Shields, Tiffany (Kyle Burdick) Shields, Heather Boehme (Jason) and Jennifer Grant (Felipe Cavalcanti); grandsons, Jonathon (Jacqui) Vinje-Shields and Nicholas Vinje-Shields; and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sidney Sperstad; and son, Duane Vinje Jr.


A celebration of life will be held at Gunderson Oregon Funeral and Cremation Care, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2026. A private burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Duane was our neighbor for more than 50 years. In fact my father sold him the lot that Duane built his home on. He was a friend to my father and to us. He would drop in and just say hi or helped us with whatever we may be working on. He will be truly missed.
