Obituary
FITCHBURG- Michelle-Jo “Misty” Brumm, age 68, of Fitchburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at UW Hospital. She was born on Nov. 24, 1953, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Walter and Eleanor (Szczepaniak) Wick.
Misty graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in Education. She was united in marriage to Phillip Brumm on Sept. 15, 1984, in Burbank, Ill. Misty taught middle school in Rockford, Ill., at Holy Family and St. Rita Catholic Schools. After moving to Fitchburg, Wis., she was a religious education coordinator at St. Maria Goretti Parish. Later, she was employed at UWHC where she was a scheduler at the Research Park facility, retiring in December of 2020.
Misty enjoyed, gardening, arts and crafts. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. She loved being a Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Grandma. Family was the most important part of her life.
Misty is survived by her husband of over 37 years, Phillip; children, Victoria, Catherine and Walter Brumm; grandson, Tobias Lee Brumm Semon; sisters, Patricia Felice and Shirley Welch; brother, Thomas Wick; four nephews and nieces; and six grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eleanor and Walter Wick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022, with Father Scott Emerson presiding. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022, and also at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.
