Ruby D. Oimoen

BARNEVELD - Ruby Oimoen, age 91, earned her wings on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Meriter Hospital, where she went to meet the love of her life, Vernon.

Ruby was born June 27, 1931, to Albert and Melva Foss. She grew up on a farm and was on the cheerleading squad at Ridgeway High School. After graduating, she worked at Oscar Mayer. On June 2, 1951, she married Vernon Oimoen and together they farmed in the rural Barneveld area where they raised five children. In 1977, they bought a house in Barneveld and moved off the farm.

Ruby loved spending time with family and friends. In earlier years, they loved traveling and going out for breakfast.

She created and ran Ruby’s Pub following the Barneveld tornado in 1984 as a place where people could come to gather, share stories and comfort each other. After closing down the pub, she enjoyed working at Betsy’s Kitchen for many years.

Ruby is survived by her children and grandchildren, Jean (Pat) McGraw and their children, Nicole, Kyle and Kevin; Greg Oimoen and his children, Sheila, Kelly and Cory; Jackie (Jerry) Hodgson and their children, Chad and Megan; Peggy (Steve) Tennant and their children, Jered and Malerie; and Patti (Tim) Anderson and their children, Brandon and Tyler. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and one more on the way; sister, Doris Lease; sisters-in-law, Pat Foss and Anita Reith; brother-in-law, Gerald Hubbard; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in passing by her husband; parents; sisters, Elva Langmeier and Inez Hubbard; brother, Donnie Foss; brothers-in-law, Bud Langmeier and Bernard Lease; and daughter-in-law, Barb.
