Andrew G. Laird

MADISON - Andrew George Laird was born a beautiful ginger in Madison on May 16, 1988, and died on Sunday, July 3, 2022.

He valiantly played the hand he was dealt until the darkness overtook him and the pain was too great, and he folded. He put on a good poker face, and we find comfort that many whose paths crossed with his knew him only as a polite, upbeat, and smart young man with a quick genuine smile.

Andrew enjoyed playing and watching all sports. In recent years his favorites were disc golf and poker. Through these communities he met many friends and challengers, and we thank them for their love and support. He loved movies, historical trivia and could intelligently engage in conversation on just about any subject. He was always respectful of others point of view.

In his early twenties, Andrew served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard and worked with children of deployed soldiers. A job he truly enjoyed. He went on to work several other jobs including Schwenn's Service and dealing poker for The Madison Poker Community.

Andrew leaves behind his cat, Giannis; his heartbroken family, mom, Beth Zeier (Gene Williams); and siblings, Katie (Richard Helsell) and Oscar; and adoring nephew and niece, Byron and Finley. He is further survived by a large extended family, many lifelong friends, and his father, Don Laird.

A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. A time of reflection will begin at 3:30 p.m.
