Obituary

MIDDLETON - Connie J. Reinke, age 72, sadly left us after a brief illness on Friday, July 1, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.

Connie was born in Madison on Oct. 2, 1949, to John and Gladys (Handel) Strassman. She started out life on her family farm. Connie was married to Darrell "Pete" Reinke from 1965 through 2006 and they had two children. In 2020 she retired after 34 years with Vogel Brothers Building where she was their accountant. Connie resided in Dane County her whole life.

Connie's favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. She always had a smile on her face. Connie had a very generous heart and was always there to help. She enjoyed going on cruises, playing Sudoku, and getting a good deal. She was great at sewing. Connie always made the best food, especially her desserts. She enjoyed listening to country music and Elvis. She loved gifting something she made that came from the heart. She was a beautiful person who spread joy and happiness wherever she went. She will be deeply missed.

Connie is survived by her two children, daughter, Cathy (Darren) Reinke and her son, Marc (Rhoda and her two children, JR and Miles) Reinke; three grandchildren, Alyssa (Ian) Reinke, Dylan Reinke and Shelby (Martin) Verrastro; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Noah Verrastro; her sister, Barb (David) Wheadon; and her partner and good friend, Darrell "Dusty" Fehrman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Roloff (2001) and John "Jack" Strassman (2011).

Our deepest appreciation to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital for their compassionate care and loving support.

A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. A private burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date.

We are very sorry for your loss. My mom Marilynn Wright worked with Connie at Vogel. I got to know Connie through my mom. She was a beautiful lady inside and out.

I worked with Connie at Vogel Bros. in the Florida office. She was always so patient and professional. If I needed her help in resolving an accounting or payroll issue, I knew I could count on her. I am so sad that she did not get to enjoy traveling after her retirement and coming to Florida for a visit. We talked about it but Covid did not allow it to happen. I still remember her travel log of her trip to Italy. She took me on a wonderful journey with her words! Rest In Peace, Connie. You will be greatly missed. I love you grandma, I miss your laugh and smile. I love how I have so many things around me to remember you, like all the little things you bought me, I get to wear and always think of my grandma and how kind hearted she was. You will always be in my heart and I will miss you forever.

I worked with Connie at Vogel Bros. For 20 years. She was very helpful and kind to me from day 1. She always treated our employees, owners, subcontractors and suppliers with honesty, patience and respect. I’m so thankful that she was able to spend time in retirement doing the things she loved most. I’ll always remember the homemade soups, soaps, and other items that she made and gifted us with for Christmas every year. She had a kind spirit and big heart.
