Obituary
Mount Horeb - Agnes Loretta Sutter, age 91, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 16, 1930, in Lone Rock, the daughter of Cornelius and Mary (Thibault) Greenheck.
Agnes graduated from Edgewood High School in 1948. She married LaVerne Sutter on Oct. 11, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lone Rock.
Agnes loved to spend time with her husband, children and family. She enjoyed taking her kids fishing and hunting when not tending to her garden or home. Agnes was an amazing canner and was a wonderful cook and baker. She could turn any occasion into a special event. Agnes and her husband were a hard-working team, dedicating themselves to their farm and family. She was a devoted member of St. Michael Parish, attending Mass at both St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mount Horeb and Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Perry Township.
Agnes is survived by her husband of 70 years, LaVerne Sutter; seven children, LaVerne "Rick" (Sue) Sutter, James "Jim" (Donna) Sutter, Michael "Mike" (Joan) Sutter, Patrick "Pat" Sutter (Debra Young), Jane (Bill Wildeman) Sutter, Robert "Bob" Sutter (Tammy Gander) and Francis "Frank" Sutter (Shannon Handley); 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Sutter; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Greenheck, Lynne Sutter, Antoinette (Jim) Adams, Marlene (Richard) Acker, Rose Mary Miller, Cecilia (William) Walsh, Pauline Tvedt, Marge Sutter and Rosemary Sutter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Mary Greenheck; parents-in-law, Albert and Bertha Sutter; an infant son and an infant daughter; siblings, Berniece (Norbert) Pulvermacher, Mary Katherine (Anthony) Schwarz, Lorraine (Robert) Westphal, Cornelius (Ruth) Greenheck, Albert (Ann) Greenheck, John Greenheck, Francis Greenheck, Pauline (Jack) Lins, Jerome Greenheck and Robert Greenheck; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Sutter, Joe Sutter, Sylvester Sutter, Russell Sutter and Lou Tvedt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 109 S. Sixth St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, with Father Chahm Gahng presiding. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Mount Horeb. Visitation will be held at Gunderson Camacho Mount Horeb Funeral and Cremation Care, 500 N. Eighth St., Mount Horeb, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to St. Michael the Archangel Parish or to a cancer research charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the many wonderful caregivers, neighbors, family and friends who visited, brought food and helped give comfort to Mom during her illness. She appreciated every kindness and so did we, her family.
