Obituary
COTTAGE GROVE - Betty Denney, age 88, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022. She was born on Sept. 20, 1933, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Earl and Josephine (Adams) Steinke. Betty graduated from Central High School, Madison, Wis., in 1951. She married Forrest Denney on May 27, 1954. Betty and Forrest were married for 58 years until Forrest's death on May 27, 2012, their 58th wedding anniversary.
Betty was employed by WEA Insurance Trust until her retirement. After her retirement, she and Forrest enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends, and their day trips to various casinos. Betty also enjoyed conversation and friendship with her wonderfully supportive condo community on East Parkview Street in Cottage Grove.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Linda (Mike) Carney of Deerfield, Wis.; three sisters, Jean Green of Springfield, Mo., Sharyn (Pat) Juneau of Marshfield, Wis., and Sandra (Neal) Granroth of Fitchburg, Wis.; two brothers, John (Edwina) Steinke of Gambrills, M.D. and Jim (Kathy) Steinke of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis; brother-in-law, Larry (Sharon) Denney of Richmond, Ind.; granddaughter, Lindsey Watson of Deerfield, Wis; step-granddaughter, Mikaela Carney of Lodi, Wis; two step-grandsons, Mike (Cate) Carney of Luck, Wis., and Adam Carney of Janesville, Wis.; three great-granddaughters, Charlotte Finley, Sadie Carney and Veda Carney; great-grandson, Alexander Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Denney; her mother and step-father, Josephine and Earl Shaul; her father and step-mother, Earl and Helme Steinke; brother-in-law, Robert Denney; and a nephew, Garrett Ninneman.
Betty’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Agrace HospiceCare (especially Alison Downey and Carmen Meningstu) and Oak Park Nursing and Rehab Facility who cared for her so attentively. They would also like to thank all the condo community at East Parkview Street, especially Georgann, and her grandsons, Carter and Wesley, for their faithful help with newspaper delivery, garbage can retrieval, and their daily smiles which endeared them to Betty's heart forever. Betty says to you, "Way to go guys, keep up the good work!"
