James McEvoy

OREGON - James (“Jim”) Arthur McEvoy, age 75, of Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Jim was born on Sept. 18, 1946, the son of the late Arthur J. and the late Elsie M. (née Kraus) McEvoy.

Jim was born in Chicago, IL, and graduated from Quigley Preparatory Seminary High School in 1964. He attended DePaul University in Chicago before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Jim worked many years as an Account Manager for IBM in Illinois and later, transferred to Wisconsin, where he made his home in Oregon for the last 25+ years.  After retiring from IBM, he continued his career with Gordon Flesch Company in Madison.   

Jim was very tech savvy and had a penchant for the newest electronics.  He loved movies and music and had an extensive media collection. He was a big fan of Jeopardy and was an avid reader.  He enjoyed history, crossword puzzles, humor, music, pop culture, and trivia contests. Generous and big hearted, Jim was a fun guy with a great sense of humor who couldn’t resist a good pun.

Jim is survived by sisters, Maureen (Anthony) Bjornson, Nancy (the late Arthur) Lucas, and Jane (Frederick) Forbes; and brothers, Peter (the late Marsha), and Brian (the late Deloris); as well as sister-in-law, Anita McEvoy; and many nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. and Elsie M. McEvoy; siblings, Elizabeth A. Jirschele, Michael, Daniel, Patrick, Terrence and Kevin; and sisters-in-law, Lori McEvoy and Marsha McEvoy.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022, with a luncheon to follow.
