MADISON - Sally Ann (Bird) Warczak, 85, born August 27, 1939, daughter of Frank and Yvonne Bird of Wauzeka, Wis., died peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Sally's endearing laugh made everyone else giggle and often laugh even harder! Growing up, Sally enjoyed working alongside her father on the family farm. After graduating from Wauzeka High School, she married John E. Warczak and later moved to Monona, where they raised five children.


Sally worked outside of home also, at Bormann's clothing store in Monona, and she retired from WPS Insurance in Madison, Wis. She loved going "back home" for family reunions, apple picking, and cooking for deer hunters. Sally also loved snow, especially for Christmas when her family would gather to play bingo and exchange gifts.


Preceding her in death are her parents; her brother, Ronnie Bird and his wife, Diane; her brother-in-law, Ron Schmidt; and her son, Anthony “Tony” Warczak. She is survived by her husband of more than 65 years; sons, Al (Gretchen) Warczak, John (Anne) Warczak and Todd (Kathy) Warczak; and daughter, Sandy (Dave) Yaeger; her sisters, Betty (Ron) Schmidt and Nancy (Homer) Davis; and brother, Ben (Mary) Bird; grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Amber, Samantha and Stace; great-grandchildren, Oshiana Joy, Acacia Artaska and Wyatt Anthony.


Sally will be greatly missed. Her children forever cherish the memory of their mom: "We remember our mom who asked for so little but gave so very much -- loving you always, mom!"


A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Christian burial will follow at the WAUZEKA CEMETERY, Wauzeka, Wis., at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2024, with a luncheon afterwards at the Century Hall, 213 E. Front St. B, Wauzeka.

We live next door to Sally and John. We have many fond memories of Sally. Her cheerful smile and giggle laugh was infectious. She was so proud of her family and spoke of them often. She was so upbeat and a joy to be with. We will miss her but she will never be forgotten. Linda and Steve Drenoske

When I was 7 years old (and this was over 30 years ago) we took a trip to Wisconsin to meet family especially my Uncle Jack and Aunt Sally, Aunt Sally taught me how to catch fireflies (which we don’t have back here in Washington state) and was always so warm and friendly. I feel lucky to have such fond memories and wish to send my hugs and sympathies to the rest of the family.

I just found out about Sally's passing this morning. I grew up in the Warczak's neighborhood and had a lot of fun times with her kids. She was a kind lady and treated the neighbor kids like her own. My condolences to the family, and she will be fondly remembered.

I worked with Sally at WPS health Insurance around the very early 1990s where I met Sally I was very young guy right out of high school and very new to Madison area. Sally trained me and was such a patient and easy going fun person to work with. I have to say in the many years I look back there are alot of nice people she was one of the more patience people I know and had a sense of humor. She will certainly be missed by many she made alot of friends easily. She was a wonderful person.

I just found out about Sally, I am so sorry for your loss. What a sweet, caring wonderful lady. If I had known, I would have come to her celebration of life. I lived across the street from Sally and Jack for many yrs. Very nice people. She was a great mother, wife and friend. 💙 Heaven celebrates to have her.
