Obituary

Sharon S. Chapman, age 70, of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was born on Dec. 1, 1951, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Oral Severson and Marianne (Wenger) Severson. She married David Chapman on July 12, 1986, in West Allis.

After graduating Nathan Hale high school in West Allis, Sharon attended UW-Madison, where she earned her master’s degree in School Psychology. She worked as a school psychologist at the Jefferson and Cambridge School Districts.

In her free time, Sharon could be found working on her garden or baking sweet treats for her family, including many breads. She, her husband, Dave, and her son, Wes, enjoyed traveling to sunny places, especially Arizona, Florida, Colorado, Puerto Rico and Mexico. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and was able to create many beautiful shawls and blankets. She also loved finding shells on the beach. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Dave; son, Wesley (Jacque) Chapman; grandson, Miles Chapman; her father, Oral Severson; and sisters, Lori Bennett and Judi (Jim) Bryant. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marianne Severson.

I met Sharon in 6th grade at Parkway. Being two of the three new students in that class that year, we formed a bond since we didn't know anyone. But Sharon made friends quickly because she had such a sweet personality. As I knew her through our Hale years, I always thought of her as such a restful, comforting person. She was calm & funny & nice all the time. I'd heard she wasn't feeling well & I pray she has found the peace she always gave to me & others. My deepest condolences to her family & friends. As administrative assistant to Director of Special Ed at Jefferson School District for the time Sharon was there I had the privilege of knowing Sharon well. Her compassion for our students was felt by all. She was an integral part of the student services team. Her expertise was sought by many during her tenure here. Sharon was a very caring, kind person. She will be missed by many. My sympathies to all. Candy Heggie
