Alice M Roessler

CROSS PLAINS - Alice Roessler, 88, of Cross Plains, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Alice was born April 30, 1934, in Plain, Sauk County, the daughter of John “Jack” and Hilda (Ederer) Meixelsperger. Her mother preceded her in death when she was only 1 year old. Later, her father married her stepmother, Celia (Alt) Meixelsperger, who she adored.  

Alice graduated from St. Luke’s High School in Plain and worked at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant near Baraboo. She married Charles J. Roessler on Sept. 7, 1953. Together they raised eight children and she was a devoted wife and homemaker. She worked many years alongside her husband and sons in their construction company, Roessler and Sons, helping design homes and doing the books.

After raising her family, Alice obtained a business degree and worked in the banking business as an administrative assistant for many years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, being an active member of St. Francis Xavier, playing cards with her card club friends, and volunteering at the local senior center in Cross Plains.

Alice will be most remembered for her kind soul, selflessness, patience, optimistic outlook and belly laugh. As our dad would say, “she is the heartbeat of our family.”

Alice is survived by her children, Greg (Kate) Roessler, Mike (Janet) Roessler, Mary (Larry) Cushman, Joanne Roessler, Marlene (Kevin) Von Behren, Chuck (Mary) Roessler, Jeanette (Kevin) Acker and David (Katy) Roessler. She is also survived by her brothers, Dave (Darlene) Meixelsperger and John (Josie) Meixelsperger; sisters-in-law, Pearl Meixelsperger and Carol Meixelsperger; and brother-in-law, Felix Ring.

She is further survived by her 20 grandchildren, Tony (Dawn) Engel, Jessie (Bryan) Plotts, Jennie (Quin) Murphy, Danielle Roessler, Nicole Roessler, Stephanie Roessler (Eric Hamilton), Kyle Roessler, Patrick (Kelsey) Cushman, Joe Cushman, Jeff Von Behren (Shelby Shumaker), Erica Smith, Tony Roessler, Abbie Roessler (Logan Birkholz), Kyle Acker, Travis Acker, Chase Acker (Gabriella Minoldo), Clayton Acker (Katelyn Gladem), Kayla Roessler (Ben Hacker), Allison (Tony) Brandt and Missy (Jayden) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Wren Plotts, Ryan Plotts, Tori (Joel) Cotten, Alyssa Engel, Emily Engel, Charlie Murphy, Georgia Murphy, Jonah Roessler, Raegen Roessler-Hamilton, Cameron Cushman, Rowan Cushman, Scarlett Acker, Everly Hacker, Mason Johnson, Brooks Brandt and Blake Brandt; and great-great-granddaughter, Cassie Cotton.  

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother; brothers, Richard, Ralph and Robert; sister, Millie Ring; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 11 a.m. Family and friends may view the service via LIVE STREAM by visiting Alice’s obituary page at www.gundersonfh.com and clicking on the Live Webcast link at the time of Mass. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the Knights of Columbus saying the rosary at 10:30 a.m. The family invites you to a luncheon that will be served after Mass.
