Dennis John Cashore

MADISON - With heartbreak, we share news of the loss of our brother, uncle and friend, Dennis J. Cashore, on Monday, August 4, 2025, after a long, courageous, and determined battle with Parkinson’s disease, at the age of 74. Dennis was born in Edgerton, Wis., on October 11, 1950, to Maurice and Hazel (Zimmerman) Cashore. He lived on a small farm in Janesville, until the family moved to Milton Junction in 1955, where he grew up and graduated in 1969.

Dennis attended UW-Madison and was employed at the UW Hospital for 35 years. He worked many different jobs starting in his youth, delivering newspapers by bicycle, farm labor, railroad maintenance and his favorite, interning as a researcher for a summer in Ireland for his history professor. Dennis coached Madison Area Softball teams, enjoyed fishing, golfing, genealogy and playing Trivia, at which he excelled, even in recent weeks. He was well liked and marveled at for his memory and knowledge by the wonderful, caring staff and residents of St. Mary’s Care Center, Madison, where he resided for several years.

Dennis is survived by his sisters, Maureen O’Meara and Candace (Kevin) Ryczek; nephews, Jayme Cashore, Cully O’Meara and Nathan Ryczek; niece, Kate Ryczek; and several great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Hazel Cashore.

He is loved and will be very missed. In keeping with Dennis’ wishes, no services will be held.
