Obituary

MADISON - Sandra J. “Sandy” Shannon, age 82, of Madison, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Meriter Hospital. She was born on April 12, 1940, in Ironwood, Mich., and raised in Green Bay, Wis., the daughter of Woodrow and Phillis (Retner) Schroeder.


Sandy spent her years as a dedicated employee at Fabco in Green Bay and Madison, until her retirement. She was an avid reader, loved watching Hallmark Christmas movies and was known for collecting many types of knickknacks and decorations for every season especially Christmas.   She was a huge Packers and Badgers fan. She was a dedicated long-term caregiver to her developmentally disabled sister, Jenn, and loved to make her happy.  Above all, she adored her grandchildren and was a very proud grandma.


Sandra is survived by her stepdaughters, Patty (John) Bakke and Kathy (Matt Frank) Shannon; stepson, Michael (Lorelei) Shannon; grandchildren, Xander, Karissa and Anya; sister, Genevieve (Jenn) Schroeder; and many dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin Shannon; and siblings, William, Joseph, Lyle, Glen and Debbie Schroeder.


A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.
