Obituary
FORT ATKINSON - Duane S. Bjugstad, age 82, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Jefferson Memory Care. He was born on Feb. 1, 1941, in Stoughton, the son of Oscar and Louise (Veland) Bjugstad.
Duane graduated from Stoughton High School in 1959 and he served in the Air National Guard from 1961 - 1967. Duane worked as a milk hauler at the beginning of his career and then as a laborer for Uniroyal for almost 50 years.
Duane was a collector of John Deere memorabilia and toy cars and loved working on John Deere tractors. He owned several classic cars over the years, including a 1965 Impala SS convertible. Duane enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of his lawn and garden. He loved listening to music and dancing the Polka.
Duane is survived by his sons, Dennis (Peggy) Bjugstad, Mike Bjugstad, and Keith (Yvette) Bjugstad; grandchildren, Diego Bjugstad, Mario Bjugstad, Yelena Bjugstad and Elianna Bjugstad; brothers, Oscar L. (Norma) Bjugstad and August Bjugstad; sister, Yvonne Bjugstad; and brother-in-law, Norm Walmer. Additionally he is survived by his wife Nancy's children, Jody (Scot) Marquardt, Lisa (Tom) Brom, Julie (Joe) Marino, James (Tiffany) Rusch and Jason (Trudy) Rusch; grandchildren, Jennifer Marquardt (Brandon Wisch), Michael Marquardt, Melissa Coxe (Will Schultz), Van Brom, Kaitlin Brom, Bradley Coxe, Jake Rusch, Cameron McGowan, Lukas Rusch, Carly McGowan and Isaac Rusch; great-grandchildren, George Mulderink, Henry Mulderink, Dixie Mulderink, Jayden Aschenbrenner-Coxe, Zane Marquardt-Wisch, Lilah May Marquardt-Wisch, Sage Brom and Raelynn Schultz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar G. and Louise; first wife, Jean Elaine (Jacques Bouthillier) Farwell; second wife, Nancy Lou Bjugstad; sister, Elaine Walmer; sister-in-law, Judy Bjugstad; and grandchildren, Joshua Brom and Tiffany Coxe.
An indoor graveside service will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024.
