Obituary
MARSHALL- Kathryn Louise Klawitter, age 73, of Marshall, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, after a courageous battle at home with her family by her side. She was born on June 22, 1949, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of George and Dorothy (Hevle) Olson.
Kathryn grew up on the East Side and graduated from LaFollette High School in 1967. After school, she had quite the life - living and traveling across the country, eventually returning to the Madison area and meeting Kyle in the early ‘80s. The two of them had a daughter, Whisper, and built a life together at their home in Deerfield. The couple later married on April 23, 1993.
Kathryn worked many various jobs over the years, but really enjoyed her 18+ years as a bus driver for Madison Metro. She retired later from WPS Insurance. Kathryn's true passion was in her flowers and plants. She had a real "green thumb" and true talent, making her home and yard into a work of art. She also dabbled in photography and stained glass as well. She loved the moon and stars, the ocean and sunsets. Kathryn continued her traveling adventures over the years with Kyle and Whisper. She also loved her music and all her animals dearly. Kathryn was a lot of fun with a really great sense of humor. She was compassionate, generous and had a real calmness within. She knew how to make someone feel welcome and her hugs left you full of comfort and ease. Kathryn was just that "FREE SPIRIT" everyone was glad they got the opportunity to meet.
Kathryn is survived by her husband Kyle; daughter, Whisper; and many other family and friends dear to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Olson; brothers, Gordon and Keith Olson; in-laws, son-in-law, Darryl Batzler; and her beloved shih tzu, Mia.
A celebration of Kathryn's life will take place at Olbrich Botanical Gardens, 3330 Atwood Ave., Madison, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ASPCA. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
