Obituary
MADISON - Lynne Kathryn Larson died at her home at Heritage Senior Living in Monona on July 12, 2026. Lynne was the first of four daughters born to Elton W. and Mary (Nelson) Larson on October 29, 1941, in Chicago, Ill. Before the second daughter came along, the family moved back to Elton's hometown of Sturgeon Bay so that he could join the war effort helping to build ships.
Lynne loved reading and learning. She excelled at West Side Elementary School and Sturgeon Bay High School. After graduating from high school in 1959, she moved to Madison and attended the University of Wisconsin. It was there that she met and married an engineering student, Bob Scorgie.
When Lynne and Bob later divorced, they were living in Massachusetts. Lynne loved Boston and eventually settled in Cambridge, Mass., where she made many close, lifelong friends. She was passionate about cooking good food, and her fondest memories were those of hosting dinner parties for all of her friends and anyone who was hungry. She loved to feed people.
Another of Lynne's passions was fashion. She was a talented seamstress who learned the basics at an early age from her dear grandmother, Helga Larson. She generously sewed garments for her sisters and friends. Her numerous creations included a gown for her sister's prom, and a wedding dress that she designed and sewed for her cherished friend, Albie.
When Lynne retired in 2007, she moved to a condo in Madison to be closer to her family. Health issues complicated by Alzheimer's dementia prompted her move to assisted living in 2019 where she resided until her death.
Lynne is survived by her sisters, Penny (Glenn Hasenjager) Olson, Jacksonport, and Mary Nell Laughlin, Madison; nephews, Ben (Lisa) Olson, Slinger, and Matthew (Jill) Olson, Spring Grove, Ill.;
and nieces, Erica Laughlin, Madison, and Krista (Jon) Sawyer, Sturgeon Bay. She is further survived by her dear friends, Kathleen DeVore, Maine, and Albie (Ron) Johnson, Boston; along with great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and friends in Wisconsin and New England.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; sister, Jane VandenHeuvel; and nephew, Lance Manschot.
To honor Lynne's wishes, there will not be a service. Her ashes will be buried at Hainesville Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
