Obituary
STOUGHTON - Darrell Dwight “Gunner” Egner, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. He was born on April 2, 1951, to Lois and Leslie Egner.
Darrell loved playing sports while at McFarland High School, including football, baseball, wrestling and basketball, where he earned the nickname “Gunner.” He was married to Sandra Breiby on July 17, 1976, in Madison.
Darrell worked as a diesel mechanic, owning his own business, Gunner’s Garage. He loved hunting, gardening, traveling across the country in his motorhome, coaching softball, watching sports and Dale Earnhardt.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; son, Jason Egner; daughter, Jamie (Jeffrey) Kjelland; and brothers, Duane “Squeak” (Sheila), Donald (Diane) and Charles (Sue) Egner. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Isabella and Grace Kjelland; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Gunner’s life will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
