Obituary
MIDDLETON - Allen C. Demmin, age 95, of Middleton, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022. He was born on June 16, 1926, to the late Carl W. and Lydia (Herman) Demmin, in Sheboygan, Wis., and was educated in the public schools there. After graduation from Central High School in the Class of 1944, he entered the U.S. Army in August 1944, took basic training in Florida, and was sent to Europe early in 1945. He was a member of the 87th Infantry Division Artillery, serving in France, Belgium and Luxemburg (Battle of the Bulge), and then in Germany until the end of the war in May 1945. He returned to the U.S. and was stationed in Georgia, Idaho and Louisiana until being honorably discharged in July 1946.
Allen enrolled at Lakeland College that fall and received his B.S. degree in Mathematics and Biology in 1950. After a year of graduate study at UW-Madison, he taught at the now-defunct Northwestern Military and Naval Academy, Lake Geneva, Wis., for three years. He received his M.S. degree in Mathematics Education from UW-Madison in 1954 and joined the faculty of Middleton High School, where he served as Mathematics Coordinator for many years, before retiring in 1991. Allen was an avid Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan.
In 1965, he married Phyllis Speir of Atlanta, Ga., and she survives him, along with a son, Thomas (Patricia) Demmin of Reedsburg.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
