STOUGHTON - Barbara Diane Stanke, age 80, of Stoughton, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital. She was born on June 24, 1941, in Beloit, the daughter of David and Dagne (Heggelund) Fragen. Barbara graduated from Beloit High School and attended Northern Illinois University. She married Richard Stanke and they remained married for 58 wonderful years.
Prior to her retirement in 1995, Barbara worked as a manager at AT&T, and was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers. In her free time, Barbara loved to cross stitch, traveling to different cities for events whenever she could. She also sewed pillows for the American Family Children’s Hospital, went on retreats, and enjoyed the challenge of searching for coupons. Barbara was an avid reader and book trader. She was the boss!
Barbara is survived by her husband, Richard; and sister, Carole Houck. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. Burial will follow at Wheeler Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
