Obituary

MIDDLETON - Alvina C. Showers, age 95, of Middleton, Wis., passed away Friday, April 29, 2022, at Waunakee Manor.  She was born on Dec. 24, 1926, in Hartley, Iowa, to Alvin and Alma (Casten) Lahann.

In the 1930s, the Lahann family moved from Iowa to Chicago and then settled in Middleton, Wis.  Alvina graduated from Middleton High School in 1945.  She married Russell Showers and joined him and his parents on the Showers’ farm.  Alvina spent her time being a farm wife and mother to their son, Scott.  Russell passed away in 1975. Alvina also worked for James Madison Memorial in the cafeteria for years serving ice cream to the students, a job she enjoyed.

Alvina is survived by her son, Scott (Christine Cimino) of Madison, Wis.; and her sister, Arlene Walter of Advance, N.C.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her parents, Alvin and Alma; and brother, Wilbur Lahann.

Alvina requested no funeral services be held.  Burial will be at Middleton Junction Cemetery, next to her husband and parents.

The family would like to thank Waunakee Manor for taking great care of Alvina since 2017, also Agrace HospiceCare for their fantastic care over the last few months.

Dear Scott , I had the pleasure of doing your such a special lady, Mothers hair for at least the past 20 so years at JC Penny Salon WT. We shared many fun stories and she even brought your wedding picture in to show me one Friday long ago. I was so glad I visited her a few times at Waunakee Manor. I plan on donating to my great nephews Ally’s for Avery service dog fund in Alvina’s name. My sympathy to you n your family.
