MILWAUKEE - John W. "Pete" Pierick, age 74, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Agrace HospiceCare after a long illness. He was born on Feb. 8, 1948, in Richland Center and raised in Highland, the son of Jack and Thelma (Schmitt) Pierick.

John graduated from Highland High School and UW-Platteville. Having grown up working in the family grocery store, John went on to work at Neesvig’s Meat Purveyors in Madison for many years before continuing his education earning his degree in respiratory therapy at MATC. He spent the rest of his career as a respiratory therapist at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.

John did volunteer work in the Diocese of Madison Latin American Mission Program in the Southwest U.S. and also with the Native American Mission Program in Gallup, N.M. John enjoyed many sports, photography, and traveling throughout Europe and the Americas.

John is survived by his brothers and sisters, Gil (Marge) Pierick, Jim (Cindy) Pierick, Pat (Penny) Pierick, Kate (Tom) Murphy, Mary Jo Norgel and Jan (Mark) Smith; sister-in-law, Mary Jean Popp; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Thelma Pierick; brother, Gene Pierick; brother-in-law, John Norgel; niece, Ellen Murphy; and nephew, Michael Norgel.

Private services were held for the family.

I remember John and worked with him at Madison General Hospital now Unity-Point-Meriter. He was a kind and caring therapist who always got the job done. His brother Gene is also fondly remembered in our home as my husband worked with him. Our condolences to the Pierick family.

Condolences to the Pierick family , I recall “trading eggs “ at the Pierick Store in Highland with Gramp and Grandma ( Tom and Gladys Enloe) and John helping to sort. John and siblings played softball with we Enloe kids on the farm in the bottom (a bit too close to the creek ) on occasion. Did anyone try to put that ball in the creek? To the family of petite! I am sorry to hear about his passing! I really wanted to visit him but I respect his wishes to not have any company! I will always think of him with a smile! We were best of friends in Highschool and were team mates on a pretty good basketball team that knocked off a undefeated team in the tournament back in 1966! Until we meet again Pete!!!
