MCFARLAND - Robert W. Lovelace, age 83, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on June 15, 1939, in Madison, the son of Wilbur and Gladys (Slotten) Lovelace.


Robert graduated from Madison East Highschool, and Barber School in Chicago. He married Carolyn Lovelace on September 14th, 1963 in Madison.


Robert worked for the State of Wisconsin for over 30 years, and worked at the Monona Barber shop.


Robert enjoyed playing cards, camping, and traveling, especially to Las Vegas. He loved spending time with his family.


Robert is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Lori (Alan) Longfield; son, Scott Lovelace; and two brothers, Gary Lovelace and Edward (Jane Patton Walsh) Walsh III; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce (Robert) Fickes; and brother and sister-in-law, William (Verda) Lovelace.


In keeping with Bob’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held by the family with a celebration of life held at a later date.

Carolyn, Lori and Scott, I was so saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I have so many pleasant memories of him and your whole family. He was also such a big supporter of McFarland's schools. It was always a joy talking with him because he was so upbeat. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you, and I'm sure you will feel his presence in your lives as you journey through life. I am so sorry for your loss. Bob and my brother Jim Hoverson were close friend thru high school and beyond. I would like to know if you have a celebrations of his life at a later date. He came to my house last year and gave me a picture of Jim at his house before he went to Las Vegas, which was the last picture taken before Jim had passed away. May you rest in peace Bob. Bob would always share his stories when he would come and play cards and I enjoyed hearing them. He will be missed. He was a good person. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Miguel D.

I am sorry to learn of the death of my old co-worker. Bob worked as a barber on my unit at Mendota Mental Health Institute for many years. His monthly visits were always "good times" for the patients and staff. Bob was a caring staff person to the patients and a "nice guy' to work with. I always enjoyed hearing about his travels. Bob will be remembered by me as a person who spent his life well - often in the service of others.

Bob will be missed by all of us at Dreamweavers, Inc. For many, many years, he came to the homes of many of our clients to cut their hair. He was a joy to have around, was always positive and got to know each person on an individual level. We missed him during covid and are saddened that he will no longer be a part of our lives.
