Obituary
OREGON – Terry I. Seekins, age 55, of Oregon, Wis., passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. He was born on March 27, 1967, at Fort Lee, Va., the son of Ronald R. and Judy K. (Lindgren) Seekins.
Terry was an “Army brat” during his childhood. He lived in many places around the world, including Germany and Korea. Terry graduated from Oregon High School in 1985. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Upper Iowa University, earning a bachelor’s degree in business management. Terry worked at several companies in the greater Madison, Wis., area as a computer programmer and IT supervisor.
Terry married Maria Isabel Avila Fernandez in Madison, on Nov. 13, 2008. They had two children, Alex I. Seekins, age 11, and April J. Seekins, age 10. Terry loved his children very much and was involved in their school and scout activities. He volunteered as a coach for their soccer teams.
Terry was an avid bicycle rider and went on many long trips throughout Wisconsin and Iowa. He enjoyed reading a wide variety of books, playing board games, and listening to alternative rock and heavy metal music. Terry loved all sports, especially football. He knew the names and positions of the players on every NFL team, as well as the team statistics. Terry lived in Texas when he was 3 years old, and he loved watching the Dallas Cowboys on television. He always stuck with the Cowboys as his favorite football team.
Terry is survived by his wife, Isabel; son, Alex; daughter, April; father, Ronald; mother, Judy; mother-in-law, Maria Antonieta Fernandez Hernandez; sister, Jennifer (Seekins) Eithun; nephew, Thomas Garrick Eithun; nieces, Mallory T. Eithun and Timaree G. Eithun; and other in-laws, nephews and nieces residing in Mexico.
Terry did not wish to have a funeral or formal service upon his death. He requested that his body be cremated. The family will have a private celebration to express their love for Terry and to share their happy memories of his life. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I am saddened and sorry to hear the news of Terry's passing. I have so many fond memories of him and our over 35 year friendship. Most memories, I'm positive he wouldn't want shared, as Terry was the oldest person in our "friend group" in high school and was grandfathered in to the 19 year old drinking age. Terry was a fun person to hang out with. Even after his High School graduation, Terry and I remained close. Trips to Six Flags and other adventures together were exciting. I can remember when Terry had been shot at Taco Bell on Park St. We all were so lucky that he survived that ordeal. I was absolutely amazed how he didn't let that define him and he continued to live life to the fullest, without fear. Terry was a kind and compassionate friend. He was so in love with his wife and children and beamed with pride when he spoke to me about them. I pray Alex and April will remember their dad as "one in a million", because that is what he was! I will miss his ribbing on Facebook and sending me random music to listen to. He was a true friend and I am better for having known him. With all of my love and sympathy. - Jen Nichols
