Obituary
EDGERTON-Norbert John Prein, age 84, of Edgerton, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on May 9, 1937, in Fond du Lac, the son of Joseph and Mabel (Webb) Prein. Norbert married Lonna Pulley on April 14, 1962, and lived in Stoughton for 53 years. They moved to Edgerton in 2014.
Norbert earned his architecture license through university extension classes while in high school, where he graduated from Stoughton High School in 1955. He went on to design the Motor Parts building and several houses in Stoughton. Norbert served in the U.S. Army from 1958 - 1965. He was an automotive parts salesman for Motor Parts Service and went on to own his own, Prein Sales. Norbert decided to change occupations and became manager at Viking Lanes. He truly loved bowling and especially loved teaching kids to bowl. Up until his passing, Norbert could still be found there on weekends working his 8-pin tap tournament.
Norbert was a long-standing member of the Stoughton Lions Club. He was an avid street rodder and restored and built many cars. Norbert was a talented sign painter; he painted many signs and banners for the Syttende Mai Parade and other local businesses. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Norbert was so proud of his family. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Lonna; his son Jeff Prein, daughters; Julie Prein, Janine (Rick) Elliott and Jennifer (Michael) Olson; 10 grandchildren, Shane Spoerle, Alex (Erin) Elliott, Travis (Alex) Spoerle, Austin Prein, Hailey Prein, Kailyn Prein, Jordann (Chris) Wilberg, Taylor (Andrew) Riddle, Hunter Olson and Hannah Olson; six great-grandchildren, Tucker, Blake, Elyse, Khaleesi, Jadelynn and Marla; his sister, Darlene Wagner; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Darrell; and his in-laws, Ray & Twila Pulley.
A service will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022.
