Obituary

MERRIMAC - David M. Curto, age 65, of Merrimac, passed away unexpectedly from a biking accident on Thursday, July 14, 2022. He was born on May 22, 1957, in Grosse Pointe, Mich., the son of the late Frederick and Joan (Campbell) Curto.

After graduating from Grosse Pointe South High School in Grosse Pointe, Mich., Dave attended the University of Notre Dame where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance.  His career spanned many decades and he served as a Regional Vice President with Sara Lee and Tennessee Pride for over 30 years until his retirement in 2007.

Dave and Joan started Club Curto in ‘87. A pool party tradition of games, BBQ and competition that went on for many years. Many gold medals were given out.

Dave’s greatest joy in life, besides his family, whom he was insanely proud of, was his ability to connect to people and be a friend without judgment. He loved boating, fishing, riding his Harley, golf, leather work, the Fighting Irish and especially Lake Wisconsin. Dave was known far and wide for his legendary ribs and beef jerky. He loved to share them with everyone he knew, and passed the skill on to his sons-who now carry on the tradition.

David is survived by his sons, Mike (Kristin), Dave (Eva), Matt (Angie) and Joan- who was his partner for 40 years. His two grandchildren, Madelyn and Calvin Curto; two brothers, James (Gail) and Tom Curto; and other relatives and many people who he touched in his life.

Go Irish, Avoid sandbars, It’s always Saturday on the Lake, Ship Cap Crew, sweeeet gerkins, Heard That! - Toe

A gathering celebrating David's life will be announced at a later date.

The family requests no flowers, please, thoughts appreciated and remember Dave’s motto: tight lines. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

A heartfelt thank you for the hospitality you showed to many ‘kids’, now adults in Naperville. Your warm hellos and waves with a big smile made the invitations sincere and it continued beyond those borders. Regretfully, this should have been shared while here but your family knows the heart of the origin. May your family be blessed as they remember your earthly life. Linda McNees and family
