Obituary

MOUNT HOREB - Mark Hulbert, age 71, passed away at home, unexpectedly on Thursday, March 10, 2022. He was born on May 9, 1950, to John and Shirley (Plescher) Hulbert in Sparta, Mich. He was married to Diane Hanson (Oellerich) on Jan. 28, 1998, in Maui, Hawaii. Together they had a combined family of five children.

 

Mark was the guy that everyone loved. He was witty, told corny jokes and often would laugh at himself. He was a man of strong faith. Mark was a believer in organ donations and because of this, many people will benefit. He will be missed but never forgotten.


Mark is survived by his wife, Diane, of 24 years; mother, Shirley; daughter, Shannon Reid; sons, Mark Hulbert Jr. and Austin Hulbert; step-son, Travis (Vera) Oellerich; step-daughter, Joy (Ryan) Finley; and nine grandchildren. He is further survived by brother, Steve (Mary) Hulbert; sister, Mary Jo (Peter) Carlson; and in-laws, Dennis (Jeanne) Hanson, Robert (Diane) Hanson, Betty (Gary) Coyier and Donn Hanson.


Mark was preceded in death by his father, John Hulbert; in-laws, George and Patricia Hanson; sister-in-law, Peggy Hanson; and a great-niece, Lilyana Thomas.


Mark's favorite quote: "I'm just an ordinary man and an everyday sinner."


The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mount Horeb and Blue Mounds police departments, and the Mount Horeb and Madison EMT units.

I was lucky enough to be one of Mark's teachers at the IC. Each day, he would stop and say hello and visit for a minute or two. He was always willing to do anything I needed him to. He always asked if my room was ok. He took pride in his work. He was just one of the kindest people I've ever known. I want to send my deepest sympathy to his family. He touched many lives.
