Obituary

MADISON - Karen K. Turner, age 76, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on Feb. 5, 1946, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Eva (Maple) Pace.

Karen graduated from Davenport West High School in 1964. She went on to attain her associate degree to be a lab tech, and later went back for a second associate degree to be an LPN. Karen then worked as an LPN at the VA Hospital for almost 20 years. She was a longtime, devoted member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church.

Karen was incredibly strong. She overcame many significant obstacles in her life, ranging from single motherhood to beating ovarian cancer. All the while, she remained fiercely devoted to her children and friends.

Karen enjoyed quilting, reading, watching old movies, going to the farmer’s market, and attending Bible study at church. She liked collecting antiques and loved everything pink. Karen loved a good practical joke and a good scare, any day spent at the pool, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and family both locally and in Colorado.

Karen is survived by her son, Timothy (Michelle Larson) Turner; daughter, Jillian Turner; four grandchildren, Lauren Wilcox, Liam Wilcox, Samantha Turner and Sydney Turner; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life will be held at MOUNT OLIVE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 110 N. Whitney Way, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, with a luncheon to follow.  Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, June 11, 2022.

Memorials may be gifted in Karen’s name to Agrace HospiceCare or Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Oh Karen will be missed. I loved her laugh and her wonderful sense of humor. When Deb Weber would pick her up or made plans with her I was often fortunate to tag along. Our trip to CO was quite fun and eventful with Deb, my mom Phyllis, Karen and me. She will be missed. Prayers and sympathy. Love Cindy (Uminski) Polan and Bob Polan
