CROSS PLAINS - Lynette “Lyn” Passini, age 73, of Cross Plains, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, while surrounded by family, after a courageous fight against lung cancer.
Lyn grew up in Middleton and graduated from Middleton High School in 1966. Following high school, she attended UW-Madison and shortly after, began working at AnchorBank. While working there, a special group of co-workers created “the birthday club,” and for over 35 years would have fun exploring towns in Wisconsin, traveling abroad, laughing and sharing memories. In 2014, Lyn retired from AnchorBank as Senior Vice President of Mortgage Lending after 43 years of service. Following retirement, Lyn held various board positions for her Northwoods Condo Association, researched family genealogy and was an avid spectator at all her grandchildren's sporting events.
Lyn’s love for animals, unique foods, and the outdoors often inspired her travel. Whether it be to Warrens, Wis., for Cranfest, the Northwoods, across the U.S. for a Badgers game or to far off places like Europe, Africa or the Galapagos Islands, she enjoyed exploring the culture of each destination. Her travels often led her to try new recipes, and it wouldn’t be unusual to find her in the kitchen cooking, watching a PBS show, while sipping on a good Manhattan.
Lyn was a leader and thoroughly enjoyed spending countless hours volunteering for different organizations. These included: Middleton Youth Hockey, Middleton Chamber of Commerce (Past President), Middleton Good Neighbor Fest, AARP tax preparation for seniors, Town of Cross Plains voting polls and MHS Reunion Committee. Always keeping active, in her “spare time,” you might have found her fishing (or baiting everyone else’s hook), boating, golfing, bowling, bird watching, finding unique treasures at craft shows and small-town shops, or heading downtown for an Overture show. Whatever the event, she loved to do it with family and friends.
Lyn is survived by her husband of 51 years, James “Jim” Passini; and her son, Todd (Aimee) Passini; along with her four grandchildren, McKenna, Avery, Gabe and Patrick. She was “the best older sister” to Terry Schlicht (Peter); and a loving support to her entire extended family. Lyn was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Wynona “Jane” (Cork) Legler.
The family invites all who knew Lyn to a visitation at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022, as well as a Celebration of Life at THE HOLIDAY INN WEST, 1109 Fourier Drive, Madison, from 12 noon until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.
