Donna M. Deauchamp

MADISON - On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, Mom's dream came true. Donna Deauchamp began her heavenly journey and her family thanked God that Dad would be there to greet her with open arms. Our father passed with Frank Sinatra 's song, "The Last Dance," and our parents' headstone reads “THE LAST DANCE.” They are dancing again.

Donna was born on Oct. 26, 1930, in Stoughton, Wis., and lived there until she moved to Beloit with her mother, Audrey, and stepfather, Ben Maves. She graduated from Beloit Memorial High School and then moved to Madison in 1948.  Donna worked as a medical receptionist in the Wisconsin Power & Light Building, where she met her true love, John Deauchamp, and they were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in 1952.  Donna worked at Quisling Clinic and then for Physicians Plus for over 50 years.  She will be remembered for her kindness and helpfulness.   

Donna was an accomplished seamstress making her daughters’ Sunday dresses for church which they wore with pride. She also learned to become an excellent cook and her desserts were the very best! Donna and John loved music and dancing. They enjoyed their nights at Lake Windsor dancing to Gugel and Bisbee.  They took some memorable trips later in life and appreciated each one.  

Many hours were spent watching their grandsons' athletic events.  It was a family affair and so special for their grandsons to have them present. Shopping was a shared experience and dad always found bargains!

Mom and dad were a handsome and stylish couple. We were so proud to be their children.  Growing up in our little house on Vahlen Street we enjoyed a happy life. Our parents taught us life's lessons by example, and we were loved.

Donna is survived by her daughters, Denise Mueller, Lori (Brad) Johnson and Michelle (Scott) Kmetz; grandsons, Jon (Mackenzie), Chris (Heidi), Ryan, Eric (Corina), Alex and Jared; great-grandsons, Will, Stanley, Tyler and Walter; and cousin, John Fontana; and special friend, Bridget Kiefer.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son-in law, Joe Mueller; mother, Audrey; and grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Sunday, March 27, 2022. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:45 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
