Obituary

Brooklyn / VERONA / MOUNT HOREB - Kevin Dennis Klusmeyer, age 68, of Brooklyn, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 7, 2022, at home, of an apparent heart attack. He was born on March 5, 1954, in Janesville, the son of Kenneth Lewis and Hulda Mae (Hauri) Klusmeyer.

Kevin graduated from Verona High School in Verona in 1972. Over the years he was employed by Thorstad Chevrolet, Frontier Fertilizer (Longmont, Colorado), Lycon, Inc. and Certco.  He owned and operated Three Seasons Trucking for nearly a decade, as well.  Since 1999, he has worked for The Bruce Company.

Kevin’s level of experience as a driver, heavy equipment operator and life experience made him a valuable source of knowledge, according to his employer. He was always ready to share this knowledge, followed by “It’s going to cost you.” His sometimes-dry sense of humor and the expression in his eyes would soon be followed by a smile and a chuckle. He always had a way of lightening up the moment. Kevin enjoyed driving trucks and riding his Harley with his friends. And - believe it or not - he took up kayaking late in life. Kevin will be deeply missed by his coworkers at The Bruce Company and many friends.

Survivors include Heidi Stauffer, whom he shared a home and life with; four sisters, Joan (John) Klem of Westfield, Candace (Jeffery) Sutter of Mount Horeb, Becky Costner of Seattle, Wash., and Brenda Klusmeyer of Madison; nephew and nieces, Nate (Taryn) Sutter and their children, Harper and Brody; Alana Sutter; Elizabeth (Tucker) Wilimovsky; Kristin Searing; Karin (Vince) Farina and their children, Jay and Kaylynn; and Rebecca Jorgensen; and a cluster of close, loyal friends. He had a special place in his heart for his little friend, Paige Dill, a neighbor.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hulda on Feb. 14, 2001; father, Kenneth on Sept. 6, 2009; and sister, Cynthia Joy on Nov. 5, 1957.

A celebration of life will be held at Gunderson Camacho Mount Horeb Funeral and Cremation Care, 500 N. Eighth St., Mount Horeb, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022. A private family burial will take place next to his parents at Luther Valley Cemetery, Beloit, at a later date.
