I spent many hours on the Herfel farm in Verona during my childhood until they moved to Mount Horeb. Many of those hours were at the dining room table. I can still smell those delicious eggs at breakfast. Very fond memories. Bob Matts

My last visit with Darlene was February 8th, it was a surprise visit for her. I was at Scott's picking up some beef from him and on my way there I gave Darlene a quick call and she was reluctant at first but told me to give her a few minutes to tidy up a bit and then call her when I was in the driveway. I was already outside the back door when I did and she said to come on in. We sat and talked 10 minutes or so and as we were getting ready to say goodbye she told me this would probably be the last time we did. WOW at first I didn't know what to say. We both stood up and I was given the perfect opportunity to share what had been on my heart for along time. Jesus put the words in my mouth and I was able to share with her we would be able to meet again. I shared with her that all she had to do was accept Jesus into her heart and accept him as her Savior. With tears In both of our eyes I prayed with her for peace and comfort in her final time her on earth and also for her children and grandchildren. Now we were both crying and she was holding me tight when we said Amen together . I truly believe she accepted Jesus as her Savior that moment and I look forward to seeing her again one day. Praise God. Love you Aunt Darlene

We sure were sorry to hear about Darlene. She always had a smile on her face and a good word for everyone. In later years we haven't seem her as much as before when she would come to the store to get parts for the farm equipment. We can't be there but still share in your loss and will be saying a prayer for her and the rest of the family. She will be missed, Mike & Carol McNall
