MOUNT HOREB - Betty J. Holmes, age 91, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at The Villa at Middleton Village. She was born on Dec. 19, 1930, in Springfield, the daughter of Louis Theis and Elizabeth Maly.
Betty graduated from Waunakee High School in 1949. She married William Holmes on June 25, 1955, in Waunakee. They worked together on the farm for many years. She was very caring and selfless. Betty had a special place in her heart for her family.
Betty is survived by her son, James (Christy) Holmes; four grandchildren, Joshua (Tara Endres) Holmes, Justin (Magen) Holmes, Britney (Jayson Phillips) Holmes and Amber (Heath Tucker) Holmes; seven great-grandchildren, Soren, Finnley, McKenzie, Ava, Breylon, Kayson and Thomas; six step great-grandchildren, Brady, Jaxon, Rosie, Rylie, Missy and Natalie; two brothers, Eugene (Louise) Theis and Roger Theis; sister, Elaine Gehin; in-laws, Dave and Margaret Holmes, Raphael and Dolores Sutter, Norb and Ginny Oldenburg, and Tom Devine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Holmes; father, Louis (Alice) Theis; mother, Elizabeth Maly; sister, Lillian (Ivan) Schroeder; brother, Leroy Theis; and two sisters-in-law, Carol (Glenn) Sutter and Diane Devine.
A funeral service will be held at Gunderson Camacho Mount Horeb Funeral and Cremation Care, 500 N. Eighth St., Mount Horeb, at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, with Father Chahm Gahng presiding. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
