Middleton - Charles Frank “Chuck” Maulbetsch, age 87, of Middleton, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on Feb. 15, 1935, in Middleton, Wis., the son of Frank and Jessie (Herrington) Maulbetsch. Chuck was raised in Middleton and graduated from Middleton High School in 1953. Subsequently, he graduated from the Wisconsin School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as the National Trust School at Northwestern University. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. On July 1, 1967, he married Helen Gulbrandsen at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua, Wis.
Chuck was in the banking business in the Madison area for over 50 years. At The Bank of Middleton, he was a senior vice president and on the board of directors. Later, he became one of the founding members of Middleton Community Bank. Additionally, he was on the board of directors of Mid-Plains Telephone Company. He was a lifelong and very active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Middleton. In his free time, he loved to travel with his family, play golf, and cheer on the Milwaukee Brewers. Most importantly, he treasured spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Andrew (Kimberly Stepien) Maulbetsch; daughter, Amy (Josh Knox) Vuyk; and four grandchildren, William Vuyk, Nathan Vuyk, Greta Maulbetsch and Marit Maulbetsch. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Liesel Maulbetsch; and brother, James Maulbetsch.
A funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022, with Pastor Tim Maybee presiding. Burial will be held at Union Cemetery of Vienna Township. Visitation will be held at Gunderson West Funeral AND Cremation Care, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
