Obituary

LODI - Cheryl "Sherri" (Carlton) Rapp, age 62, passed away unexpectedly in her home of a cardiac event on February 25th, 2022. She was born on December 8, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, to Patricia Carlton, who later married John Andrews. It was John whom Sherri called "Dad."

Sherri graduated from Palatine High School in 1978. She knew at a young age that one of her biggest goals was to be a mother and raise a family. She made that happen by marrying the love of her life, Roy Rapp, on July 7, 1984, at the United Methodist Church in Lodi, Wis.

She will be remembered as a doting mother to her children and a loving wife to Roy. Anyone who was lucky enough to have met her, knows what a gentle and genuinely kind human being she was. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent baker. She loved hosting summer barbecues with family and friends. She also loved holiday gatherings and decorating her house for the festivities. A favorite way to spend a day was time shared with her kids and her cat, Chloe, who never left her side -- until now.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Roy; her children, Billy (Tyler) and Shannon (Caleb); her brothers, David, John (Paulette), and Jim (Melanie); her sister, Judy; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Patricia and John Andrews, and her sister, Nancy Velasco.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Sherri was beautiful inside and out, and a shining light in our family. She was my niece and my best friend. Roy, Bill and Shannon, may the love of friends and family help carry you through the most difficult times. Love you all. Aunt Sandy

My heart goes out to Roy, Billy and Shannon, who have lost a wonderful family matriarch. I grew to love Sherri when we were young mothers together and got our toddlers (Billy and Melinda) together for playdates. On the first day of school, we cried sentimental tears over morning coffee after waving good bye to our kindergarteners on the school bus. We supported each other through the growing pains of letting go and watching our kids explore the Brave New World. I'll miss Sherri's beautiful smile and helpful nature. She loved my family, and I love hers. My sympathies to all who mourn her loss -- I know there are many. Rest In Peace, my dear friend. -- Deb Elsing

What I'll remember most about Sherri is how much she lived for/loved her family and how she had a good sense of humor loving to laugh with others. She was so affirming to everyone, and as beautiful as she was, she remained humble and kind. I loved her the first day I met her and will miss her forever. Praying for Roy, Billy and Shannon that God may heal your broken hearts.
