Obituary

MADISON - Dorothy Grace Bakken, age 94, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at Beaver Dam Health Center. She was born on Nov. 19, 1929, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Kropp) Feely. She married Russell LeRoy Bakken on Oct. 7, 1951, in St. Paul, Minn.

Dorothy loved animals, and animals loved her. She enjoyed traveling around the United States, visiting the National Parks. She met her husband, Russell, while working as a nanny for his younger brother.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Tim) Diedrich, Darlene Spergeon, Susan (Frank) Zerlien and Diane (Rich) Chase; sons, Lee Bakken, LeRoy Bakken and Larry Bakken; brother, Bill (Sandy) Feely; and sister, Grace (Don) Wilson. She was preceded in death by husband, Russell; parents, Clarence and Clara; and sister, Joyce Schaumburg.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

These two sisters are going to have fun in heaven together. It was fun visiting and hearing stories from them when Aunt Dorothy came to visit mom, Joyce. I have not met another person who had her connection with animals- she had a special gift. Blessed be her memory in our hearts. Hug to all my cousins, Aunt Grace, & Uncle Billy - your in my thoughts and prayers - Clara
