SUN PRAIRIE - Joyce Darlene (Skrenes) Stich passed from us in Sun Prairie, Wis., on May 11, 2023. She was born in Madison, Wis., on July 28, 1931. After graduation from Madison East High School, she married her forever love, Keith, and they began an adventurous life together touching the lives of so many families, neighbors, and friends until Keith passed away on Nov. 2, 2020.
Joyce was very energetic, turning her hobbies and interests into productive endeavors. She participated in community theatre. She loved to sing and was a vocalist with Madison’s Trinity Lutheran Church Choir having toured Europe. She was an avid reader of the bible and professed her faith often to many. Joyce enjoyed decorating, turning her interest into a productive venture with Home Interiors, and floral design. Joyce and Keith were the originators and owners of the Stang Wirth Gift House in Madison and turned this historic home into a successful retail business in addition to providing wedding floral and photography services.
Joyce was a loving mother, daughter, and sister. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Tarisse Stich-Olson and son-in-law, David Olson; parents, Walborg Marie Moeller, and Hans Skrenes; and siblings, Caroline, Anna, Henry, Jerony, Ardis, Lloyd, and Edith.
Joyce was a caring mother to Michael (Kathy) Stich and David Stich; and an attentive grandmother to Chad (Tara) Stich, Karisa (Jon) Skiba, Brittney Louther, Alisa (Brandon) Major and Brian Thorpe. She was also immensely proud of her eight great-grandchildren, Jake, Kamryn, Kaitlyn, Benjamin, Joshua, Samuel, Liam, and Wesley. She also loved all her nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago St., Madison, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Interment is at Bristol Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family is grateful to the staff and Joyce’s friends at New Perspective Senior Living and Agrace Hospice for their tender caregiving and concern.
Joyce, a leader, and believer in the Triune God, may she rest in peace.
