Obituary
STOUGHTON-Erma Marie Klug, age 88, of Stoughton, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Skaalen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Erma was born on Jan. 6, 1935, in Central lowa, the daughter of Richard and Henrietta (Stalzer) Stackhouse. She grew up in a family with three sisters and graduated from McCallsburg High School in 1953. Erma was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” Klug in Zearing, Iowa, on Nov. 26, 1953.
Erma and Gene began their married life together in Radcliffe, Iowa, where they would eventually raise their two children, Sharon Rose and David "Dave" Lee. Erma was a homemaker for many years; she cleaned houses and then worked at Donnelly Marketing in Nevada, Iowa, for 25 years. In Sept. 1999, Erma and Gene moved to Stoughton to retire close to Sharon and Dave and their families. She enjoyed walking, reading, cooking, baking and making a variety of crafts. Erma also enjoyed camping, dancing with Gene to big band music and spending as much time as possible with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Erma is survived by her children, Sharon Rose (Keith) McCredie of Sun Prairie and Dave Klug of Stoughton; grandchildren, Kelly (Adam) Hook of Oregon, Kari (Brandon) Orloff of Blanchardville and Gabe Sanner-Klug of Monona; great-grandchildren, Kristian, Jakob, Lukas and Ella Orloff and Brady, Benjamin and Alexa Hook; sister, Dorothy Lesher; and many nieces and nephews. Erma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; sisters, Lois Shea and Shirley Wismer.
The family would like to especially thank Nurse Becky and the staff at Skaalen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for providing such wonderful care to Erma during her stay. In addition, the family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Dean Clinic, Stoughton Hospital and Elena and Angie with Agrace HospiceCare for the support and kindness they provided our mom and grandma.
