Richard A. Proctor

MADISON - Richard A. Proctor passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at the age of 62.  Richard was born on Aug. 13, 1959, in Chicago, to John and Theora Proctor.  The family moved to the Madison area in 1967 after eight years in Milwaukee where he called home for the remainder of his life.

Richard graduated from West High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree from UW Madison in social work.  He held many jobs over his lifetime ranging from CNA, to counselor, to massage therapist. His longest career, however, was spent serving our country in the U.S. Armed Forces with the Peacekeeping Forces in Egypt and Germany.  He deeply appreciated the help that the VA provided him subsequent to his service and credits them with keeping him around as long as they did.  

He enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and other various outdoor activities.  Richard loved his animals, his children, his grandchildren, and his family dearly. He will be greatly missed.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Joy Goddard and her children, Cameron and Callie; his son, Dubin’s children, Lilirose and Dubin Jr.; his sister, Leslie (Larry) Grenzow; many beloved nieces, nephews and their children, cousins, and special friend, Pamela Stept.
