GREEN BAY - Mark J. “Hummer” Stallsmith, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at Sylvan Crossing Fitchburg. He was born on March 2, 1954, in Savannah, Ga., the son of Harvey and Miriam (Connolly) Stallsmith.
Mark graduated from Southwest High School in 1972 and UW-Green Bay in 1979. He served in the U.S. Marines and was first trumpet in the First Division Marine Corps Band at Camp Pendleton. He also performed with the Green Bay Packers Band.
Mark worked as a receptionist for the Department of Health and Family Services, and as a music and substitute teacher in DeSoto, Wis., and Waseca, Minn.
Mark was an avid Packers fan and enjoyed touring state parks. He was fascinated with old muscle cars and collecting model cars.
Mark is survived by his two sons, Craig (Christine Hayward) Stallsmith and Patrick Stallsmith; sister, Karen (Carl) Jandourek; two brothers, Kirk (Paula) Stallsmith and Brad (Jennifer) Stallsmith; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Mark's name to Agrace HospiceCare or to a charity of the donor's choice.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Sylvan Crossing, Agrace HospiceCare, Greenbriar Assisted Living in Baraboo and Bernice Wermuth for all of the wonderful care and support given to Mark.
