BLACK EARTH - William Carl “Bill” Roth, age 59, of Black Earth, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021. He was born in Madison on Jan. 3, 1962, the son of John and Sandra (Morris) Roth.
Bill graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering in December of 1987. He married Lisa Anderson on June 17, 1989, in Madison.
Bill worked as a civil engineer for Ayres Associates for nearly 34 years, specializing in road design and construction. If anyone needed directions to go somewhere, he was the one to ask. He was an active member and former elder of Redeemer Bible Fellowship in Verona. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
Bill loved fishing, taking great pride in teaching each of his children how to fish. Most summer Saturday mornings, he could be found in Wisconsin Dells with at least one of his sons, casting for smallmouth bass and walleye in the Wisconsin River. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Packers and Badgers. He enjoyed classic movies, with Alfred Hitchcock movies being some of his favorites. He was a music aficionado and excelled at music trivia. Bill loved his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and enjoyed discussing theology with the men and women at church; He is remembered as being brilliant. Bill was a faithful and loving husband to the love of his life, Lisa, and he was very proud of his children and loved spending time with them.
Bill is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lisa; his nine children, Stephen Roth, Amanda (Chris) Gibbs, Aaron Roth, Joshua Roth, Caleb Roth, Nicole Roth, Abigail Roth, Joseph Roth and Deborah Roth; his mother, Sandra (George) Huber; brother, Barry (Kelly) Roth; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Carolyn Anderson; brother-in-law, Mike (Stacey) Anderson; two sisters-in-law, Kristin (Scott) Peterson and Laurie Anderson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Richard Roth; two infant daughters, Elizabeth and Emily Roth; paternal grandparents, John and Bonnie Roth; maternal grandparents, Carl and Catherine Morris; and maternal aunt Kathy Helten.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022. Location in Verona is to be determined.
