Lucas Kittleson

BLUE MOUNDS - Lucas Kendall Kittleson, age 19, of Blue Mounds, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, as the result of an auto accident. He was born on Dec. 21, 2002, in Madison, the son of Craig and Kerrie (Skinner) Kittleson.

Lucas was a 2021 graduate of Mount Horeb High School, and currently a student at Southwest Technical College in the Auto Body program and had just made the Dean’s List. Lucas was also currently working at Wrecktify Collision and Restoration in New Glarus and for Jason Ihm at Highway Holsteins Farm for many years.

Lucas loved being part of the Mount Horeb FFA and going on the Canada fishing trips, fruit sales, tractor rides to school and National Conventions. He started young racing snow cross with his brothers and great friend, Trey, for Team TILT. He then raced radar runs and always had a passion for snowmobiling with family and friends. He had a motorcycle for the warm months and a fishing boat he used all the time.

Lucas was an avid hunter. He loved deer hunting on the home property and friends’ places, bow shooting carp, bow hunting, turkey hunting and going north with his buds to help guide for bear and even getting his own.

Lucas and his family bought and built his ‘77 Chevy truck which he would show and break driveshafts in. He was usually found in the shop working on one of his vehicles.

He loved being with his friends more than anything and wanted them to be happy and have fun. Lucas had a cherished special group of friends who he “hung out with.” There is a special place in his heart for Hanna Stapelmann.

Lucas is survived by his parents, Craig and Kerrie Kittleson; brothers, Isaac (Adrienne Roeder) Kittleson and Tyler (Andora Cearns) Kittleson; grandparents, Ken and Sara Kittleson and Shirley Skinner; aunts, Sherrie (Carey) Hensel and Cathie (Jeff) Cunningham; uncle, Bill (Sue) Skinner III; godparents, Joe (Tami) Reeson; many great-aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends; and his four-legged companions, Brutus, Bella and Lacy.

Lucas was preceded in death by his uncle, Scott Kittleson; his grandfather, William Skinner Jr.; great-grandmother, Edrie Severson; and cousins, Susan Denk and Brad Schultz.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, at 11 a.m. at EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 315 E. Main St., Mount Horeb, with Pastor John Twiton officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at the Mount Horeb Union Cemetery. A gathering at VFW POST NO. 9511, 2787 Erbe Road, Blue Mounds, will be held after 12:30 p.m.
