Obituary
Rio - Sharon Delores Lingard, age 81, of Rio, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. She was born on Aug. 3, 1940, the daughter of Glenn Lee and Breta (Butler) Lee.
Sharon grew up on the family farm where she worked side by side with her Dad, tending to the animals and working the fields. Sharon was a faithful associate at Walgreens Distribution Center for 25 years before retiring. She then worked tirelessly to restore the beautiful Victorian home she had bought for herself in Arlington. Sharon was a mean Scrabble player, who rarely lost. She loved gardening in her back yard and spending time with her kids and grandkids. Her house was always full of kids, whether they were hers or not. She lived for her family and her home was always open to those that needed a helping hand up. Sharon was the person who always made sure no one spent the holidays alone and was a generous caregiver by nature.
Sharon is survived by her five children, Renee (Mick) Heinrich, Rebecca Slater, Sheryl (Jim) Fitzgibbon, Dean Lingard and Lori (Chad) Bembenek; eight grandchildren, Michael Rupnow, Frank Heinrich, Jeremy (Lisa) Pitas, Demitrios (Kala) Pitas, Nikolaos (Amy) Pitas, Michael (Amanda) Slater, Darren (Alicia) Slater and Alea Bembenek; 10 great grandchildren; four sisters; and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; one brother; two nieces; and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held at Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Care, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
